THE DESCENDANTS OF WILLIAM H. AND MARTHA WEAVER BARTON?
We have pondered this question for a few years. Well, here is a summary of the data collected to date.
A Tomb Stone in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery is inscribed "In Sacred Memory of Martha Barton formally Weaver was born Oct 30 1840 AD died March 28 1871 AD age 30 yrs 4 months 28 day". The next Tomb Stone is inscribed "Peter Weaver husband of Armindia Weaver Apr 6, 1812 Dec. 25, 1877". Peter and Martha Barton are buried next to one another. Martha E. Weaver is buried on his other side. Armindia Weaver (2nd
wife of Peter) is buried in a grave in the same plot.
Facts: William H. Barton is son of Willis and Margaret Martin Barton as listed in the 1850 census Hall Co., GA. He is listed again in Winston Co., AL 1860 census in household # 295 Age 25, male, born GA, Wife Martha age 18 female born GA. They are listed with households # 296A Madison M. Barton his brother and # 297 Willis Barton his father. We have been unable to find Martha or the family in 1870. We know she died on March 28, 1871. InWinston Co., AL 1880 census we find Jonathan J. Barton listed as a nephew in the household of Henry Weaver, age 17, born AL, Parents born in GA.
Note 2:
William and Martha J. Barton are enumerated in the 1860 Township 11, Range 9, District 288, Winston County, Alabama Census. His age is given as 23 years and born in Georgia.

Barton, William H., Pvt., Co. L, age 27, EN 9/25/63, Fayette Co., AL, MI 9/25/63, Glendale, MS, born Hall Co., GA, farmer, POW 10/26/63 at Vincent's Cross Roads, AL, died at Andersonville, GA 9/1/64 while POW. (Buried in Grave #7524, Andersonville National Cemetery).
